Srinagar, Dec 22: Dry weather is predicted for the next five days in the region, where Drass in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh was the coldest at minus 21.4 degree while famed ski resort of Gulmarg recorded minus 7.6 degree minimum temperature.
The weather will remain dry during the next five days in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region, a Met department spokesman said. However, he said if the sky will remain clear, the minimum temperature would drop.
Interestingly, famed ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a surge of about two degrees while there was a drop of 3.8 degrees in the minimum temperature at Pahalgam, which serves as base camp for annual yatra to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas in summer.
Owing to cloudy sky during the night, the summer capital, Srinagar, witnessed surge in the minimum temperature after snowfall on Friday. Against yesterday's minus 0.4 degree, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was 1.2 degree, over two notches above normal. The weather will remain dry during the next five days in Srinagar, he said.

Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir witnessed a major drop and settled at minus 6.8 degree against yesterdays minus 3 degree minimum temperature. The water level in river Lidder passing through Pahalgam, remained low as snow on upper reaches remained frozen.

People in Kargil district are being supplied water through tankers and majority of them are using spring water which remains warm in winter and cold in summer. However, in some areas people are snow water after melting it.
He said at Leh, the capital of UT Ladakh, the minimum temperature was minus 9.9 degree against yesterday's minus 9.5 degree.
