Convert violence ridden States into UTs: Harsh Dev
12/23/2019 9:17:12 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 23: Taking a pot shot at the BJP for its failure to control mob violence in the country, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister said that all such violence ridden states needed to be converted into UTs in terms of the bench marks laid down by its own Government at the centre.
As per press statement, He said that with states like UP, Bihar, Karnataka etc experiencing massive death and destruction, it would be sheer imprudence to underestimate the potential monstrousness of the raging fires. "With several precious lives having been lost in bloody battles besides unprecedented damage to public property, the law and order seemed to have invariably collapsed in several states of the country. The unmitigated wild fury in UP refusing to die down had made the state extremely vulnerable to death and annihilation and as such necessitated firm measures in the interests of nation as well as the safety and security of its people", observed Singh.
He said that while J&K was converted into UT on mere apprehensions of breach of peace post Art 370 abrogation, the states like UP were actually experiencing lawlessness and massive violent upheaval which could be disastrous for the national unity. He said UP could be easily divided into three or four Union Territories with its law and order entrusted to Union Home Ministry under the charge of revered Amit Shah.
Urging upon the Union Govt to come clear on the issue of NRC, he said that incongruous conflicting statements made by various loud mouthed, rolly polly, overweight BJP leaders, had created a lot of confusion which had further raised tempers. He said that Govt clarification was also important in view of dichotomous statements by PM Modi and HM Amit Shah on various occasions. Quoting Amit Shah, Singh revealed that he had stated "Don't try to connect the citizenship bill with NRC. But keep it in mind that NRC is about to come". But PM Modi during his yesterday rally in Ramlila Madaan New Delhi stated that "there has been no discussion on NRC anywhere. We only had to implement it in Assam to follow Supreme Court directives".
Complimenting the people of J&K for maintaining the age old traditions of communal harmony and brotherhood, he said the peaceful UT was an eye opener for these who had discredited its leadership. He said that a normal J&K as opposed to other fire fighting states has amply proved that the decision to downgrade the erstwhile state was erroneous and that it was time to rectify the historical wrong. What further proof of law abiding citizenry and normalcy was required by the centre than the fact that J&K was the only territory in India which did not witness any violence or abnormal situation in the face of gravest of provocations by vested interests, questioned Singh.
