KDA floats faulty tenders allegedly to mint money

Early Times Report
anantnag, Dec 23: The Kokernag Development Authoirty in South Kashmir's Anantnag district has yet again floated faulty tenders apparently to mint money.
The dasti quotation, 04 of 2019-20 dated 09-11-2019, floated for the procurement of furniture has serious loopholes as the tender notice now where mentions the specifications of the furniture to be procured.
The tourism development authority has, according to the tender notice, decided to procure 800 carpets, 86 chairs, 16 wooden dining table (4 seated), 70 curtains and other furniture but the tender notice nowhere mentions the specifications like kind of timber.
The tender notice floated by Executive Engineer Kokernag Development Authority Muzaffer Ahmad Dada has raised serious questions over his conduct as the contractors have started approaching higher authorities for immediate action.
"We timely approached the concerned authorities of Kokernag Development Authority including Executive Engineer but all efforts went in vain as they didn't agree to republish the tender notice neither agreed to cancel it," contractors told Early Times.
They also claimed that they met Deputy Comissioner Anantnag and demanded action against the officer for Committing a fraud' and misleading the contractors for his vested interests.
Contractors alleged that that hiding specifications of the items being procured the developmental authoirty was a deblibrate attempt to benefit a particular contractor who allegedly pays the officers of KDA.
"This a serious lapse on behalf of the officer and it needs to be proved as we feel that this Engineer has done it to favour some people " they alleged.
They said that it was difficult for them to participate in the tendering process as they don't know what they have to supply.
'The notice published in a daily newspaper based Srinagar says that KDA needs chairs but we don't know which chairs. Chairs of plastic, steel or wooden and if wooden which kind of timber Deodor or any other kind, they said.
Executive Engineer KDA Muzaffer Ahmad Dada when contacted admitted that the newspaper has published the tender notice and specifications of items to be procured doesn't have been published.
"Their must be some error but the notice uploaded on website has specifications mentioned. It's misleading I agree and the notice will be republished again" he said.
Earlier in 2016, during summer agitation KDA also floated faulty tenders but the same were cancelled after Early Times reported the issue.
