Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: NIFT opened its doors for a fresh batch of aspiring design professionals for 2020. As aspiring students of design throng the 16 NIFT campuses that are busy hosting Open House sessions for interactions and counselling. The deadline for NIFT applications is 31 December.
Over the years, the role and possibilities of design, management and technology have expanded manifold. At NIFT we constantly endeavor to stay ahead of the industry and act as a leader for guiding the fashion scenario of India. The curriculum is reviewed regularly to meet the current and future demands and NIFT now has a new restructured curriculum with enhanced creative potential and flexibility and much ahead of times. The key features are concept of Majors and Minors, specialisations within the programme, and a basket of General Electives to choose from, leading to individuated pathways.
This has been done to make students more industry-ready and prepared to successfully manage the dynamic, uncertain and complex world of fashion technology, design and retailing. In addition to this, the institute has firmly integrated the Craft Cluster Initiative into its curriculum. This, it is believed, will inspire students to draw from our country's rich and diverse cultural heritage, arts and crafts and metamorphose and assimilate the learnings into the current trends and requirements of the fashion industry.
