Atal Dulloo reviews implementation of disease control programmes

JAMMU, Dec 24: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo, today reviewed the implementation of National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP) in Jammu and Kashmir and host of other disease control programmes, here at two separate meetings.
The review meeting on the implementation of NVHCP was attended by Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Renu Khajuria; Principal Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina; Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K Bhupinder Kumar; Director (Coordination) New Medical Colleges Jammu, Dr Yashpal Sharma; Joint Director (Planning) H&ME, Madan Lal and other senior officers. Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Samir Mattoo; Principal Government Medical College, Kashmir Dr Parvez Shah; Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) from Kashmir division attended the meeting through video conferencing.
During the review meeting, the FC gave a string of directions to the concerned authorities for the effective implementation of the programme.
NVHCP was launched by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in July 2018, to eliminate Hepatitis C by 2020 and achieve significant reduction in infected population, morbidity associated with Hepatitis B and C.
The FC directed the CMOs of J&K to prepare a micro-plan so that the immunization of health workers can be started at an earliest. He also said that drug abusers should be screened at the drug de-addiction centres for Hepatitis B and C. Officials of the National Health Mission gave a detailed presentation on the progress made under the programme.
The FC was informed that one each Model Treatment Centre (MTC) and a referral laboratory have been established at Government Medical Colleges of Srinagar and Jammu. It was also said that one District Treatment Centre (DTC) and district laboratory in six identified district hospitals has been set up to improve health care services.
It was also given out in the meeting that J&K has received Hepatitis C virus and Hepatitis B virus Kits from MoHFW which have been disseminated to District laboratories through Controller Drugs. In a separate meeting, Atal Dullo reviewed National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer Diabetes Cardio Vascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), Non Communicable Diseases (NCD), National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) and National Programme for Health Care for Elderly (NPHCE).
During the review meeting, the FC emphasized upon the officers to carry out the Information, Education and Communication campaign very seriously and directed for population based screening to be rolled out in all the district of Jammu and Kashmir. He also said that all the vacancies should be fulfilled out on urgent basis.
