Two GRS decamped with Rs. 58 lakhs meant for poor's

jammu, Jan 01: In an open and free for all loot of public money meant for distribution among the poor job card holders under MGNREGA in Kishtwar District, two GRS including a controversial GRS who came to lime light following the incident involving his high profile and luxurious dressing in a public darbar chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar in the year 2017.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the people of Darbadan and adjoining Panchayats in block Thakrie in Kishtwar District are knocking the doors at various government offices for seeking the recovery of the money to the tune of approximately Rs. 58 lakhs decamped by the two GRS, one with Rs. 27 lakhs, the other with Rs. 31 Lakhs, while the 3rd GRS according to the sources has agreed to distribute the public money among the poor job card holders that has been withdrawn by him under material head of MGNREGA through the vendors of his choice.
The people inform the "Early Times" that they have approach the office of the concern BDO who after giving patience hearing to them had assured that the money will be distributed among the genuine persons, but nothing has been done so far following which they approach the office of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar who had instructed his sub ordinate official to look into the matter.
They said that the controversial GRS on the condition that the material component will be withdrawn against the name of few vendors since all the job card holders did not full the required criteria and the process involve lot of documentation works added that accordingly the proposal was mooted to draw the same on the names of few selected vendors so that the money could be later distributed among the genuine stake holders.
They said that they were shell shock to know that the material payments stands withdrawn way back, but same was not distributed among the genuine persons who had in actual use the material component on its own against the works executed in the said Panchayats added that similar practice was adopted in other Panchayats as well.
They said that in other Panchayats, the majority of the share of the money has been distributed among the actual stakeholders while two GRS refuse to distribute the same among the stakeholders while 3rd GRS after being snubbed had agreed to distribute the money among the stakeholders and further said that in case he too fail-they will lodge a complaint against him as well.
The people demanded high level investigation against the two GRS who turned millionaire at the cost of the poor people who are hand to mouth banking on MGNREGA , guaranteed 100 job days to every poor job card holders.
They said that they have also forwarded the complaint to Crime Branch with the hope that action will be initiated against the arrogant GRS who swindle the public money. Some people even called for CBI probe into the matter.
