Winter vacation by KU delayed degree by one year alleges varsity students

Early Times Report
srinagar, Jan 01: The recent announcement of winter vacation by Kashmir University (KU) has not gone well with the students as they alleged that their degree has been delayed to one more year hindering their future studies.
Score of Kashmir University students who talked to Early Times said that the education in the valley had already halted due to the scrapping of Article 370 by August 5 as classes remain suspended for over three months and now winter vacation delayed the degree by one year.
University of Kashmir announced winter vacation for students from December 23 to February 5 despite the students remaining off from the classrooms for over more than three months.
Mehnaz Khan, a final year Masters Degree student told Early Times that I was in my final year of my masters degree and I thought I would complete last year but the classes got delayed. However, I would have completed the degree had winter vacation not be announced by the University of Kashmir.
He added, "The varsity knew that academics were halted for many months, instead of announcing winter vacation they should have carried the studies which would have saved one year of our career".
"I had to submit my dissertation to the department of my master's degree but the varsity announced winter vacation and now I have to submit next year and it will consume more than six months for final submission", said another student.
He added, "Kashmir University do not look into such issues and get carried away. They are more concerned about themselves rather than about students". Adding that he said, "I remember in 2016 there were no class work for many months but then the winter vacation was announced for only one month only and classes were resumed as early as possible".
While on the other hand, many students has alleged that winter vacation was announced to favor professors in the varsity as they had already booked tickets flights to travel outside the region in winters.
"The winter vacation announced by University of Kashmir was merely for professors as they wanted to go outside Jammu and Kashmir in winters. They are playing with the future of students", alleged a KU student.
Meanwhile an official said that Kashmir University was open for classes and students and it were the pupils that did not turn so varsity is not at fault. We announced the winter vacation as per the norms.
