Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 01: The Higher Education department has been hiding the transfer orders of the college faculty members, which is seen as an attempt to hide the violation of transfer policy norms, which has been going on unabated.
The violation of transfer policy could be gauged from the fact that several influential faculty members, who were transferred to some peripheral colleges or the colleges not of their choice, have retained their choicest postings within span of few months of their previous transfers.
According to the sources though Higher Education department has been updating its website regularly and orders of December 30 and 31 have also been updated but the transfer orders issued by department have not been updated.
"Few days back an order of transfer of over half a dozen faculty members was issued by department but was not updated on the website. Similarly many other transfer orders were issued by the department in past few months but none of them was updated on the website", sources said, adding that the last transfer order involving 54 faculty members issued in July 2019 was updated by department.
"One of the reason for behind non-updating of transfer orders on website is that several influential faculty members, who were transferred to some peripheral areas have been adjusted to city colleges and urban areas, which is in total violation of transfer policy", sources said, adding that if the transfer orders would be updated, anyone could easily detect the violation of transfer policy and retaining of the choicest posts by influential faculty members.
Sources further disclosed that in the span of last few months, several transfer orders have been issued by the department, posting the faculty members to their choicest posts.
Several influential faculty members have been overstaying at the city colleges of Jammu as well as Srinagar city for several years, some of them have spent over a decade in the city colleges. "They usually shuttled from one college to another but that too in city limits. There must be transparency in the transfer policy and all orders should be updated, which is also necessary according to Right to Information Act", an official said.
Pertinently, according to the transfer policy of the J&K government, the minimum tenure of a government employee including teaching faculty members, on a post shall be two years and a maximum of three years.
