Early Times Report
SUNDERBANI, Jan 9: Over hundred kanals of State land has been allegedly encroached in Sunderbani area under the nose of Revenue Department Sunderbani as well as concerned Municipal Committee, which are acting as mute spectators.
Sources told Early Times that the encroached land which is mainly a 'Nallah' in revenue records belong to Revenue Department while one more department has also its share but the silence of concerned departments over the gross violation creating suspicion among the people.
"The encroached Nallah falls under Khasra No. 2817, measuring 35 kanals and 1 marla and belong to Revenue Department while the land under Khasra No. 2864 measuring 29 Kanals No. 1 marla and Khasra No. 2668 measuring 60 kanals belong other department," they said.
A local social worker of Sunderbani, Dev Raj Sharma told Early Times that the encroachment was started in 2013 wherein various shops, houses were constructed illegally on the said land under the nose of concerned Revenue Department and Municipal Committee, which didn't take action against it.
He further said that he had lodged a complaint in CM Grievance in 2013 regarding encroachment which remained pending for two years and later in 2015, the directions were issued to the concerned department for removal of encroachment by the Cell but not action was taken.
When contacted ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar, feigned ignorance of the matter and showed his helplessness to curb the menace. The Tehsildar Sunderbani Jitender Singh, when contacted, admitted that encroachment of State land has been done. He said that action will be taken soon and notices will be served to them.
