ISM dispensary at Bhawani in shambles, maintenance funds never utilized

NOWSHERA, Jan 9: The height of casual approach of Health Department Rajouri district can be gauged from fact that the Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM) dispensary in panchayat Bhawani of Nowshera has been functioning in a dilapidated building which has been consistently posing threat to the human lives.
Sources told Early Times that the ISM dispensary in Panchayat Bhawani, is situated along LOC and caters the adjoining villages. "The building was constructed nearly 10-15 years ago but till date no maintenance and repair work of the dispensary has been done resulting the entire building has been crumbling, roof is continue to seep during rains making difficult for the medical staff as well as the patients to stand inside the building," they alleged.
They further informed that the all medicines, medical equipments and furniture of the dispensary have got damaged by rains. The local Sarpanch Bhawani Panchayat Sunil Choudhary along with other villagers including Krishan Lal, Rakesh Kumar, Ashok Kumar alleged that the funds released for repair of the building were never spent due to which the entire structure is in shamble and alleged that funds have been siphoned off by department.
The locals of panchayat informed that they had fear in entering into the dispensary building as it can collapse any time. The causality cases during cross border firing or shelling are given first aid in this dispensary but the condition of building pose more serious threat.
Assistant District Medical Officer (ADMO), Mohd Sayed Haider, when contacted took the matter lightly and avoided giving reply. Meanwhile, Dy BMO Nowshera Dr Chander informed the Early Times that the matter has been taken up with higher authority and soon an inspection of building will be conducted.
