Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 9: Natrang's Winter Theatre Workshop for Children concluded here today with the wonderful performance of a new play in Hindi 'Prakriti Maa' written by Gopal Maheshwari and directed by Neeraj Kant at K.L. Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre Complex, Jammu.
Children exhibited their acting skills which they imbibed during this short but impactful workshop. Speaking at the occasion, Sumeet Sharma, Incharge, Children Wing of Natrang informed that considering the importance of theatre in overall personality development of children, Natrang has kept special space for regular theatre workshops for children in its busy calendar of events. The content of Natrang's training programme for Children has been devised by Padmashri Balwant Thakur which has thoroughly evolved and enhanced during thirty-year consistent work with children.
The play 'Prakriti Maa' in a very interesting manner presents a child's perspective in connection with depleting environment and increasing pollution of all forms.
A child, in a very innocent manner, considers earth, nature, five- elements as his relatives such as 'Daadi', 'Maa', 'Mama', 'Chacha', 'Bua' etc. who appraise him about the harm done to them by humans in the name of development but they fail to understand that any abuse done to nature would return back to them and they will pay a heavy price for all the atrocities done to Mother Nature. At the end, children vow to take every possible step to live in synchronization with nature and protect it for the betterment of all.
Children were also awarded certificates in presence of senior functionaries of Natrang Suresh Kumar, Neeraj Kant, Sumeet Sharma and Vikrant Sharma. Those who acted in the play included Abir Beri, Raga Sharma, Sanyam Arora, Amritansh Dogra, Aryamann Singh Bandral, Kushaan Baliya, Mannat Soni, Adiv Sharma, Mannan Soni, Muktika Tikoo, Asma Gul, Advita Gupta, Mannat Sharma, Gun Sethi, Reet Sethi, Bharvika Bandral, Anadhya Beri, Saavi Anand, Aviral Kapoor, Priyal Gupta, Srishti Kapoor, Abhinandan Nangla, Abhiuday Gupta, Aryamann Bakshi, Dev Gupta, Soujanya Shekhar, Droan Dushyant Kohli and Vivaan Sharma. The lights of the play were executed by Brijesh Avtar Sharma and the sound was rendered by Aarti Devi. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and the hall management were looked after by Vanshika Gupta, Lovely Sharma, Kananpreet Kaur, Sumit Raina and Sushant Singh Charak.
