Kashmir continues to get more jobs
Now paramilitary forces offer lucrative jobs in valley for doctors
1/11/2020 10:32:21 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 11: Just a few weeks after the railway wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police offered job openings in the valley, paramilitary force is offering jobs for doctors in the same region while Jammu craves for jobs.
Officials said the paramilitary has offered as many as eight jobs of "General Duty Medical Officers" on contractual basis in Kashmir province.
The openings for the areas of Handwara, SinghPora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Panthachowk, SHQ Bandipora and Bandipora are offering lucrative jobs with salary of Rs 75,000 per month. The appointment is initially for three years and subsequently extendable to five years as per the terms and conditions of the contract.
Scores of unemployed doctors from Kashmir province are understood to have rushed to appear in the walk-in interviews that were held at the paramilitary headquarters in the summer capital of Srinagar.
Last month, the railway wing of the JKP had invited applications for services in Kashmir.
Prior to that the government had recruited SPOs in almost all the districts of Kashmir province in the last three-four months.
Though the paramilitary force said similar jobs are offered in Jammu region as well, the people of the winter capital region find such "Kashmir- centric job openings as discrimination with the other region."
"Every new job opening is largely Kashmir centric and this is a bad trend and discrimination with the people of Jammu. Jobs should be offered in both the regions in the balanced manner such that years of discrimination with the winter capital region ends," said a prominent Jammuite.
Interestingly after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, though the people of Jammu warmly welcomed the historic decision of the Modi government and Kashmir observed hartal in line with the separatist sentiment, it is the valley, which is seemingly getting attention on development activities including job openings.
