Road Safety week commences; DDC, SSP Samba flag off walkathon

SAMBA, Jan 11: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Samba today flagged off a Walkathon during inauguration of 31st National Road Safety Week 2020 at Government Degree College (GDC) Samba today. The walkathon was organized by Motor Vehicle Department.
On the occasion more than 600 school children from different schools of Samba District participated. During the rally students displayed various placards having various road safety slogans besides held interaction with traffic violators enroute and educated them for incorporating good Samaritans habits and obey traffic rules in daily routine.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Samba Rohit Khajuria said that youth are ambassador for change as the theme of 31st National Road Safety Week 2020 is “BRINGING CHANGE THROUGH YOUTH POWER” and he urged students to ensure their full participation in generating awareness among their family members and general masses and bringing accident rate of district down the global graph.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shakti Pathak while interacting with students said there is dire need to inculcate basic safety rules in day to day life while driving .he further aware them about amended MVA, 2019 he also directed police authorities to fully cooperate and aware general public about various traffic rules.
Earlier Pledge Ceremony for road safety was also held. ARTO Rehana Tabassam greeted the dignitaries while vote of thanks was presented by MVI Surinder Kumar.
Principal GDC Samba, DySP Hq, DySP Traffic, ARTO Samba, MVI Automobile Dealers, representatives of Driving Schools and Transport Unions of Samba were present on the occasion.
