Bhartiya Kala Sangam demands culture policy in J&K

JAMMU, Jan 12: Bhartiya Kala Sangam Jammu organized a Press Conference at Press Club Jammu wherein the organisation highlighted the importance of establishing regional cinema, framing cultural policy in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The press conference was attended by eminent writers, musicians, singers, actors, producers , Director and others.
Ramesh Chib, Director Bhartiya Kala Sangam Jammu said that Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory possesses legacy of rich Culture Heritage, Folk in heritance in Ceioua docma, music and dance with variety of languages spoken by different ethnics groups in various parts in.union territory.
He added, "Deploring inertia on part of successes governments of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir States for not paying specific attention to widen the sphere of culture activities, he said that in absence of full-fledged cultural policy, the artists fraternity has suffered tremendously in Union Territory to promote and develop local talent of different culture groups for constantly neglecting the interests of artists by those so far remained in the helms of state affairs".
While highlighting the charter of demands, Ramesh Chib Director, Bhartiya Kala Sangam urged the Lt. Governor of J&K Union Territory to direct the Culture Department to formulate well-conceived cultural policy here in UT in order to cater to the overall interests of artists in different fields.
Further, he demanded formation of Regional Cinema Policy in Jammu Union Territory.on the basis of neighbouring state like Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh etc. which will have Government Funding / Subsidy for promoting such Films. Besides, appropriate amount of subsidy may be provided to local producers for making Regional films, short Films on the lines of other states.
He said that there is Doordarshan Kendra Jammu which is deficient of staff, funds , cameramen and added that DD Kendra Jammu be named as Duggar Channel and also upgrade as satellite channel, besides beefing up the strength of the channel with adequate staff, equipments.
