Mech Div Rajouri caught on wrong foot, cancel online tender to appease blue-eyed

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Jan 10: It may sound bizarre, but the state of art of executing works through tendering process is not bereft of irregularities that have brought many cases to highlight.
Since the departments undertaking such dubious practices try to come clean when caught on wrong foot, yet there seems to be no administrative control or guidelines to take cognizance of such offences.
In one such activity conducted at Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Rajouri , a tender was floated demanding manpower as security guards in the department.
After the tenders were opened, Jaanbaaz security agencies were allotted the works for supply of the manpower to the department, which the company undertook immediately. However, engaging in malpractice, the mechanical department, as per the sources in order to embark upon a manipulative ploy to cancel the online tender given to Jaanbaaz Security agencies.
Later, it was learnt that mechanical department erased off the tender from its site and denied the work to Jaanbaaz Security. On being queried, Bhupinder Singh , Executive Engineer Mechanical Division came up with a very vague reply.
"We had to strike off the tender work from the site since one of the subordinate clandestinely had disclosed the tender rates and deliberately posted the name of the company on the front list.
After having come to knowledge of his misdeeds, we cancelled the tenders and have dismissed the employee," said Bhupinder Singh while talking to Early Times .
When asked to disclose the name of the subordinate who conducted the misdeed, Bhupinder Singh avoided the query saying that it is the departmental matter and name could not be disclosed.
Meanwhile a source in Jaanbaaz Security agency that possess the legal documents of the tender as well as the official papers supporting its claim for the work said that all such activity was done by the department to adjust its blue eyed company.
The security agency has appealed to the Mechanical Department Rajouri as well as the concerned advisor to Lt Governor G C Murmu to take cognizance of the matter and bring the culprits to the books.
