Team Jammu releases 'Calendar -2020', declares Sept 23 as State Holiday
1/15/2020 9:12:39 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 15: Team Jammu today released the "Calendar -2020" and declared September 23, the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh as the State Holiday.
While releasing the Calendar, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman of Team Jammu, hailed the UT Government's decision of declaring Accession Day (October 26) as the State Holiday but regretted that there was no similar gesture for September 23, the birthday of last Dogra ruler who was instrumental in accession of J&K with the Indian Union.
"It is highly unfortunate that the UT Government has failed to recognize the contribution of visionary and revolutionary Maharaja Hari Singh in accession of J&K State with the Indian Union. Maharaja Hari Singh will remain a role model for the generations to come. He was a visionary far ahead of his times and the contribution rendered by him would be remembered for ever," Zorawar Singh said.
The Team Jammu chief made a fervent appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to observe holiday on the birth anniversary of late Maharaja whose contributions were phenomenal as he immensely contributed in every sphere of life which is remembered today as well.
Reiterating the resolve to carry forward messages and teaching of Maharaja Hari Singh, Zorawar Singh Jamwal regretted that the last Dogra ruler was a victim of the "malicious and vicious" campaign launched by Kashmir Valley based ruling elites to undermine revolutionary steps taken by the late Maharaja.
"A well-knit nefarious strategy was devised by the Kashmiri ruling elites in connivance with some black sheep of Jammu, not to give due regard to the last Dogra ruler," he said.
Recalling the revolutionary steps taken by late Maharaja Hari Singh, Zorawar Singh reminded that it was during his regime that legislations were framed against many social evils unlike his counterparts in rest of the subcontinent. "The visionary Maharaja abolished unsociability and sacked the priest of Shri Raghunath Temple when he found that the later had refused entry to the lower castes despite his explicit orders," Zorawar Singh recalled.
On the occasion, Zorawar Jamwal also reiterated the Team Jammu's resolve to vigorously continue the fight against drug abuse and drug mafia in the New Year.
While extending full cooperation to security agencies, Zorawar Singh hoped that the Police and other agencies would work in close tandem to put an end on drug trade in the city of temples. He also stressed that the arrest of couriers or conduits would not solve the problem unless the police reaches to the collars of the mafia.
The Team Jammu chairman suggested for enhancement of manpower to fight against the menace and said that the officers of particular area or locality are made accountable on check over drug cases in their respective jurisdiction and be dealt with stern hands by the concerned officers if they fail to curb such incidents.
Among others who were present on the occasion, included Er. Chandan Datta, Sunil Singh Babloo, Dr. Ashish Gupta, Sunil Raipuria, Surinder Sharma, Bhanu Partap Singh, Sanjay Verma and Sunil Gupta.
