Government to set free detained political leaders in a phased manner
Process to begin this week, formal orders in offing

Jammu, Jan 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government is all set to release atleast 10 political detainees from detention this week with orders in this regard being issued within a day or two.
Reports have informed that the government is mulling to set free the leaders of both the Peoples Democratic Party as well as of the national conference this week and the preparations for the same are in a final stage.
Earlier there were reports that the dispensation is releasing about 25 political detainees from detention. However, in the first phase, said sources, the government is going to release around 10 persons and subsequent release orders will follow later. There are reports also coming to the fore that the government is asking the leaders, it is setting free, to sign the bonds in which an undertaking that they shall not be part of any assemblage that can cause law and order issues for the dispensation.
"Majority of the leaders are free now. About 20-25 of them are still in detention. I am hopeful that they will be set free by the end of this month or maybe next few weeks," BJP General Secretary and party’s points man in Jammu and Kashmir told reporters last week.
"The valley is peaceful after the important measures that we have taken. People of the valley largely are today in a mood to welcome more development, more progress that is what the envoys who have visited the valley must have experienced there," he added.
