Reasi Administration prepares for Mahashivratri Mela at Shiv Khori

REASI, Jan 15: Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib today convened a meeting to finalize the preparedness for ensuing Mahashivratri Mela-2020 which will be organised at Shri Shiv Khori Shrine, Reasi.
Various strategies and developmental issues were discussed including sanitation, traffic plans, medical facilities, cultural programmes, cloak room facility during the meeting.
The DC directed that rate lists be pasted at prominent places for transparency in passenger fare. She said that for better management of traffic during the mela days, heavy vehicles would not be permitted to ply passengers from Kanda onwards.
DC said that there should be no use of disposable utensils made of single-use-plastic and heavy fine would be imposed on any violation of the same. Mobile toilets would also be set up to facilitate the visitors.
DC said that a large number of devotees are expected to throng the shrine in the 3-day holy fair which will be conducted from 20 to 22 February 2020.
President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma apprised the meeting that traditional dangal would also be held on the last day of the mela.
Fun rides, decoration, street lighting, fire safety and other measures were also discussed in depth at the meeting. A group of volunteers would be formed to assist the devotees during the mela.
ADC Rajinder Sharma, SSP Reasi Rashmi Wazir, Tehsildar Pouni Lekh Raj, BDO Pouni Om Prakash among other district officers, Sarpanchs from block Pouni, prominent citizens and others were present in the meeting.
