MVD Poonch marked its presence in Tehsil Surankote

Poonch, Jan 15: The 31st National Road Safety Week was celebrated in Tehsil Surankote of District Poonch by organising Rahgiri/walkathon,Medical/awareness camp for drivers and conductorsand marking the voilators by novel means(by presenting roses/gifts etc).
The day long event started with the walk for safety which comprised of the officers MVD,Distt Police and other departments.A good no. of students (displaying road safety banners and placards),volunteers from civil society members joined hands to walk together to spread the awareness about the road safety issues.
The next event in the pipeline was,( Gift a rose campaign) where road safety messages were disseminated among the road users by presenting roses, helmets,coffeemugs,pens chocolates etc to create the much needed awareness regarding road safety among young generation.
Speaking on the occasion Arto Poonch Jugal kishore Sharma appealed the drivers to remain healthy and cautious and ensure routine medical examination . He added that MVD Poonch has tried to make the best possible efforts to reach out to the people in all the far flung areas regarding road safety inorder to make this mass campaign a real success. Finally he thanked all the stakeholders, officers from health and education departments , transport unions for their active participation in the event.
