Early times report

Udhampur, Feb 2: Throwing all the norms and rules to winds, children are being engaged as labourers in district Udhampur. Children of the age between 8-14 can be easily seen working as waiters, dish washers etc in tea stalls, dhabas, as domestic help etc.
The authorities concerned to check this crime pose a deaf ear and blind eye to all such happenings. "Children of today are the future of our nation and it really gives me pain to see our future cleaning dirty utensils in hotels and cleaning flours at homes of rich people," said --a retired police officer
Sources informed that though some children were rescued from their working place and were admitted in schools but with time they recycle themselves in their old jobs due to poverty. Reliable sources informed that many children working in hotels , shops etc tell their wrong age as they were told to do so by their employers. Some NGOs working in for eradication of child labour are for name sake and do nothing else than receiving funds by showing false report cards. However, some youth of the area along with certain prominent citizens have expressed serious concern in this direction but they said that without helping the concern authority it is not possible to rescue the children engaged as workers in many organisations but concern authority deep slumbers. Others said that society should be made aware on the issue to solve it.
