BBBP campaign concludes at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Feb 5: A week long programme under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ conducted by the District Administration Udhampur concluded at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Auditorium.
District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla was the chief guest while Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar was the guest of honour on the occasion.
DDC congratulated all the concerned district officers and general public for active participation in BBBP programme. He further said that participation of girl child in each and every field is now visible.
DDC said that the main objective of organizing this programme is to create awareness among the common masses about the scheme was launched by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India in order to reduce the rate of female feticide in the country.
DDC also said that such awareness programmes would help in ensuring empowerment of women through education and equal participation in all the working fields.
In the event, 08 girls achievers in the various field were rewarded with cash reward of Rs 5000 each and the winners of painting competition held in the District were also presented the mementos.
Programme Officer ICDS, Attar Chand who is also Nodal Officer BBBP, delivered the key note address. President MC Udhampur Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta also spoke on the occasion and highlighted importance of the scheme.
Various theme based cultural items including a street play were presented by students and local artists which was highly applauded by the audience. A pledge for eliminating the menace of Female foeticide was also administered to the audience.
