Anantnag, Feb 5: The allotment of contract for the construction of seven girls hostels across Jammu & Kashmir has come under the scanner of Crime Brach Jammu after an influential lady disclosed before the investigating agency that she ‘managed’ the allotment of contract. As per reports, the Crime Brach Jammu had sent a detailed questionnaire to the lady in December last year after the lady, according to Crime Branch, admitted to have managed the allotment of contact in favor of BB infra from Jammu & Kashmir Housing Board through personnel influence. The Crime Branch has sought complete personnel and bank details from the lady.
“Elaborate as to how you managed the allotment of theses construction sites from Housing Board,” letter, a copy of which lies with Early Times reads. The Crime Brach has asked the lady to voluntarily disclose if she has received any payment in lieu of construction of Girls hostels in Jammu and Kashmir.
In 2017 10 crores were sanctioned under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) as mobilization advance to Housing Board for the construction of seven girls’ hostels across erstwhile state.
The hostels were to be constructed at GDC Paloura, Jammu and GDC Bemina, Srinagar at an estimated cost of Rs 12.5 crore each. At GDC Thathri, GDC Rajouri, Women’s GDC Kupwara, Women’s GDC Pulwama and GDC Kargil, the hostels will be constructed at the cost of Rs 5 crore each and total estimated cost of the project was Rs 50 crore.
First installment of Rs 10 Cr was released to the State Housing Board for the construction of these hostel buildings however the agency sublet the construction work to BB Infra Pvt Ltd without fallowing norms.
“State Housing Board transferred the funds for the construction to the private company but the company abandoned the construction works just after completion of half of the plinth of the buildings,” sources revealed.
They said that huge kickbacks were paid to some influential people for allotting the contract of construction of seven girl hostels in different college of Jammu and Kashmir to a private firm.
They said that the lady who had admitted to have managed the allotment of contract for the construction of girl hostels due to her personnel influence is from New Delhi and she was interfering into every decision of PDP-BJP government because of her New Delhi connection.
