Rasool takes 12 wickets; J&K thrashes Tripura by 329 runs

JAMMU, Feb 6: Captain Parvez Rasool was all over the Tripura as Jammu and Kashmir team outclasses the opponents by 329 runs and secured 6 crucial points in the Elite Group C Ranji Trophy played at MBB Stadium, Agartala.
Captain Parveez Rasool took 12 wickets in two innings and conceded just 73 runs and was adjudged man of the match for the bowling performance. Jammu and Kashmir secured 6 points, and have retained the Elite Group C with one game left.
Chasing 448 runs in second innings was never going to be easy for Tripura as the team had won only one match so far this season. Jammu and Kashmir started the third day of the match on the score of 49 for the loss of one wicket and by the end of the day the game had ended. Shubham Khajuria Parvez Rasool (c) and Abdul Samad scored quickly for Jammu and Kashmir today as J&K declared on the score of 306 runs for the loss of nine wickets, giving ample time for bowlers to beat the Tripura which they delivered very well. Shubham Khajuria was the highest score getter for the Jammu and Kashmir, he scored 76 runs. Parveez and Abdul Samad too scored quick fifties giving good score to the team. Chasing the score of 448 runs, Tripura kept loosing wickets regularly with batsman giving wickets easily. Tripura had lost five wickets on the score of 36 runs and rest of the batsmen added some 60 odd runs, thanks to Manisankar Murasingh 58 runs of 78 balls. Aquib Nabi and Abid Mushtaq too delivered best of their bowling helping Rasool and co to take the game home with one day left. Earlier, Tripura won the toss, which chose to field. Jammu and Kashmir scored 329 runs in first innings, in reply Tripura scored 187 runs and Jammu and Kashmir took a healthy lead. In second innings some fifties in middle order from Jammu and Kashmir pose them healthy total which was too enough for Tripura. Jammu and Kashmir will play with their last group match against Haryana on 12 February.
