| Introduction of DNB courses to improve healthcare in J&K: Atal Dulloo | | ‘15 hospitals to get ICU facilities in next 4 months’ | |

JAMMU, Feb 28: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today held a meeting here to review the progress in the implementation of Diploma in National Board (DNB) courses in the district hospitals and new Medical Colleges of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the introduction of DNB courses in the district hospitals and new Medical Colleges will go a long way in the institutional strengthening of healthcare centres.
The meeting was attended by Director New Medical Colleges, Yashpal Sharma; Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, Sunanda Raina; Principal GMC Doda, Tariq Azad; Managing Director, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation, Shiv Kumar Gupta; Joint Director (Planning) H&ME, Madan Lal while as concerned officers from Kashmir division participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
Expressing his satisfaction over the progress made so far, the Financial Commissioner said that introduction of DNB courses will dramatically improve the health services in the districts and will also decongest the tertiary care hospitals at Jammu and Srinagar. He said that by introduction of DNB, a specialist will be available round-the-clock at the district hospital and all facilities will be available at the district level for better patient care.
The FC also said that DNB will provide ample opportunities for starting of Post Graduate and Undergraduate courses that will systemically improve the health sector.
During the meeting, Dulloo directed the officers to gear up their efforts so that Intensive Care Unit facilities will be made available in the 10 district hospitals and five new Medical Colleges of J&K in the next four months. He also said that Neonatal Intensive Care Units in five New Medical Colleges should be made fully functional within the stipulated time frame.
During the meeting, the Financial Commissioner was informed that the district hospitals and new GMCs have applied for various specialties and inspection has been completed in many while a few are yet to be inspected. He was also informed that staff nurses for each of the district hospitals have joined in most of the health centres. |
