Officers openly violating Migrants Distress Sale Act
2/28/2020 11:50:56 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 28: Despite the directives from higher ups in Government the Revenue officials fail to comply the same and remove the encroachments from migrants left over land and other property in Kashmir Valley grabbed by anti social elements.
Sources said officers on ground are not complying the orders if higher ups in Government in restoring the migrants left over property including houses and land.
Sources said the orders of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir in this regard are not being carried by Revenue officers in various parts of Valley who in league with land mafia are openly violating the distress sale of migrants land property act promulgated in 1987 Sources said recently the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, to Revenue officers Srinagar to vacate the occupation of migrants property at Vicharnag Soura Srinagar.
Sources said that despite the efforts of the migrants to seek restoration of their land the revenue officers at tehsil and sub Divisional level have failed to help them by evicting encroachers from the area.
Sources said Vicharnag is not the only one place where the land has been encroached and revenue authorities failed to restore the same by complying the directives up higher ups but this problem is common every where in Valley.
Sources said the migrants property had become a free for affair in Valley for both land mafia and Government agencies.
Sources said in Ranipora Brah in Anantnag even PDD has forcibly installed a transformer in Village Ranipora adjacent to Kheer Bhawani temple despite the objection of Pandits that the land belongs to shrine and instead of leaving State and Kadcharai land near the temple aside the authorities have chosen place in Hindi shrine to install transformer.Part 4:
Sources said the officers at higher level though approached by Mandir Committee failed to give justice to them.
Sources said the PHE authorities had also installed pumps in springs of shrines in various places of Valley for water supply despite the objections made by Shrines Committee. This problem has surfaced in Vitasya Devasthan spring Veerinag of Anantnag district and Munghama in Pulwama district. The shrines Committees had not objected in installation of pumps for water supply but made a request to concerned authorities to install the pipes in the streams which flows from the spring but they turned down the same.
The shrine committee members took up the issue from time to time with concerned authorities but to no avail.
