Issues of flood zone encroachment, overstaying officials in Rajouri-Poonch will be dealt with heavy hands: Div Com Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 1: Taking strong notice of increasing menace of encroachment of flood zone land and overstaying officials and other government employees in Rajouri and Poonch districts, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma said that illegal structures created on encroached land will be demolished and as far as the issue of overstaying officials is concerned, the parent departments will be directed to prepare list of such employees.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma said this while talking to Early Times, in an exclusive interview, wherein he responded on various issues of Jammu region.
On being asked about the encroachment of flood zone land, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu said that he has received many complaints in this connection and he has asked the concerned administrations to prepare details of such issues and directed them to take immediate action on the encroachment.
Moreover, thousands of kanals of land has also been retrieved by launching anti-encroachment drives in past also. “Illegal structures constructed on State land will be demolished and I appeal to the people to cooperate to bring out such issues before the administrations,” he said.
In response to the issue of overstaying officials as well as other employees in various departments in Rajouri and Poonch districts, which has given rise to the corruption, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu said that he would take up the matter with concerned administrations on this issue. “Sometimes the locals demand for not transferring some officials due to their work efficiency and honesty,” he added.
While talking on the progress of four laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road, the Divisional Commissioner said that it is very much needed and ambitious project of Jammu, which will decongest the traffic movement and the work on it has been going on war footing, construction of flyovers has been speeded up and soon people of Jammu are going to have gift in the shape of Jammu-Akhnoor highway. He further said that the work on Rajouri – Poonch four laning is also going to be started soon.
On being asked about road in Khawas area of Rajouri district, which is long pending demand as due to absence of road, the local residents have to face huge difficulty; Div Com said that he had talked to the concerned DC to initiate the process by taking up matter with concerned departments.
He further informed that as far as Rajouri-Thanamandi road is concerned, we have talked to BRO and tendering process is going on and soon blacktopping will be started.
