Police launches operation to apprehend Revenue Officials
‘Tampering in revenue records of state land in Nagrota’

Jammu, Mar 1: As a sequel in the much-hyped case of tampering in revenue records, the Nagrota Police has launched manhunt to nab two revenue officials including the then Tehsildar, who facilitated transfer of prime government land along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Nagrota, in the name of land mafia in Jagti, Nagrota.
Following the arrest of five persons yesterday, the arrested persons have named some revenue officials including the then Tehsildar and Patwari. “Efforts are being made nab them (Tehsildar and Patwari), but they have went underground following the arrest of Samant Singh, Vishwa Nath, Subash Chander, Anchal Singh and Brijdev Singh the beneficiaries”, a Police Officer said, adding that several team of Police from sub-division Nagrota is on hunt and soon, these officials would be behind the bar.
“The State land bearing khasra no.1101 on national highway 44 of Jagti area valuing in Crores was transferred illegally by revenue authorities after tampering revenue records in the names of some touts of land mafia”, they said, adding that a case FIR no. 298/2015 under section 447-A and section 3 of PPD Act was also registered when initially land grabbers tried to encroach upon some a portion of land.
“The case FIR no. 31/2020 was registered after DC Jammu canceled the illegal mutation order made by the revenue officers/officials whereby major chunk of state land was transferred to land grabbers by changing nature/type of land”, the officer said, adding that Police teams of Nagrota headed by Insp. Mohd. Shokat SHO Nagrota, Insp Zaheer Mushtaq ICPP Sidhra, SI Ankuj Kumar under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma raided different locations of Jammu and had arrested five accused who were wanted in case FIR no 31/2020 under sections 420/467/468/120-B of IPC, section 3 of PPD Act,& section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act,1988 of Police Station Nagrota.
