Coming summer could be hot ?
3/3/2020 11:04:05 PM
Lieutenant General B S Raju, who recently took the charge of strategically based 15 Corps in Srinagar, has made it clear checking the adversary along the Line of Control is Army’s priority.
With the onset of Spring in Kashmir there is every possibility about infiltration from across the LoC witnessing an increase. The Army has already stated that launching pads across the LoC are full and terrorists are waiting for snow to melt and passes to open. Coming months are going to be crucial as there is every possibility about Pakistan trying its best to push in as many terrorists as it can.
General Raju’s assertion is a hint that coming months could be hot. Coming season is the first summer after J&K’s reorganization and Pakistan would definitely try to do something or the other to keep the pot boiling.
People sitting across the Line of Control are aware of the fact that the people nurturing the separatist feelings in Kashmir have been shown the door and most of their agents are cooling their heels in jails. There is no one left to pursue their agenda of agitational terrorism. So they may find it difficult to orchestrate the street protests and provoke the common people. The only option left with Pakistan are terrorists, whom it can use to foment trouble in J&K.
Army and other security forces will have to put extra efforts to maintain peace as the terrorists will make every possible attempt to make their presence felt. Experiences of the past are an ample proof of the fact that people sitting across the LoC cannot mend their ways. For the past three decades they haven’t done anything except spreading hate and terror. One cannot expect terrorist handlers to change their habits. They don’t understand the language of peace and amity.
Army’s top commander has hinted that troops deployed in Kashmir should be ready to face the multiple challenges in mainland and also in the hinterland. The government keeping the high speed internet under suspension, according to the security experts, has helped in checking the propaganda which was spread from the other side. It has also prevented youth from getting radicalized to some extent. The plan which was chalked out by the Government of India (GoI) seems to be falling at place. It appears that semblance of normalcy is slowly returning to strife torn Kashmir Valley. But for peace to become a permanent feature, people of Kashmir will have to cooperate with the government of the day and the security forces.
