Gharota Murder Case: Family of arrested brothers smells conspiracy
Seeks removal of SP Rural, probe through CBI
3/4/2020 12:15:05 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 3: Demanding CBI probe into the shootout case of Gharota area, in which a man was killed and two persons including local Sarpanch were injured, the families of arrested brothers today alleged that conspiracy has been hatched by a PDP leader, to keep them behind bars for his political gain.
“My brother, Chanchal Baba one of the arrested men among nine brothers has nothing to do with the case, but under the patronage of a politician, who in connivance with SP Rural Suram Singh had hatched a conspiracy to put all the male members of our family behind bars,” said sister of arrested persons while talking to Early Times.
“If the Police seriously want to solve the case first of all remove Suram Singh from the post of SP Rural who on the directions of his masters is manipulating the incident. Further, a case be handed over to CBI for professional and unbiased investigation. Conduct narco-tests of all my brothers as well as the injured Sarpanch and his sister Geeta Devi, who was injured in incident, we will bear the entire expenses of narco test”, she said, adding that her brothers were innocent, and they have been framed in the case by Police on the behest of few politicians.
“If they could have killed or injured anybody, they would have been on run not sleeping in their homes. When the Police reached our home, Baba Chanchal was sleeping in his room, the SHO took him along with other two brothers in Police Station. Next morning, when my other brothers visited Police Station to enquire the whereabouts of our brothers who were taken to Police Station, the Gharota Police arrested them too”, she said.
“We have sufficient evidence to prove that my brothers have nothing to do with the murder. We have CCTV recording with us that show that my brother was at home when the firing incident took place. The team reached at our residence just after the incident and checked all the vehicles and their engines, whether it were warm or not, if the vehicles have been used”, she said.
“Since the day, when the shootout took place a dozen Police teams have visited our houses for various reasons and their visits still continue”, she said adding that the arrested persons are going through third degree torture in Police custody.
“They are being forced to accept the crime they have not committed”, said the family members adding that Police have also recovered the unauthorized weapons from the house of PDP leader Suram Singh, but he is not being questioned by the Police.
“It is not new thing, in past, Suram Singh had made similar attempts to defame and implicate our families in fake cases, but with the blessing of God, he could not succeed in his agenda so now he cooked up another story. We know that things will be crystal clear one day, but till then we want no further torture with the arrested persons”, they added.
