3/4/2020 12:10:39 AM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 3: Advisor to Lt. Governor K.K Sharma today directed the officers for coming up with a mechanism for making readily available the material needed for undertaking the works on various mega projects.
The Advisor was chairing a meeting to discuss the mining issues in the UT of J&K.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Pollution Control Board, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Director Geology and Mining, Director Environment, Special Secretaries Industries and Commerce/Law, Chief Engineers of Jammu Division and other senior officers.
The Advisor directed the Chairman Pollution Control Board to ensure that the clearances for the mining activities to be undertaken by the prospective miners should be expedited in consonance with the laid down parameters so that the material is made available in bulk to the executing agencies for carrying out the developmental works. He said that the Board should also fast pace the requisite mechanism so that the clearances are given within the shortest possible time.
The Advisor also directed the officers of R&B to work in close coordination with the department of Geology and Mining besides the directorate of environment so that mechanism is evolved for fast pacing the grant of environmental clearances and other related things.
He said that the requisite capacity building of the officers of R&B should also be done so that they get acquainted with the processes associated with the mining process and extraction of the materials so needed for carrying out developmental works. “A fool proof method should be devised so that the development works do not suffer on account of non availability of the material needed for their speedy execution and completion” the Advisor maintained.
While directing for ensuring that the litigations pending in courts should also be followed rigorously, the Advisor said that the department of mining should take up these with the law department for early disposal of the cases.
The Advisor also directed the department of Geology and Mining to also explore other means for fast pacing the process of preparation of mining plan for the miners so that it can be cleared by the concerned department.
