Jammu, Mar 5: Several people are feared dead after a Tavera vehicle on way from Srinagar to Jammu rolled down over 500 feet into fast-flowing River Chenab in Ramban district, on Thursday evening.
They said that the vehicle met with an accident near Ceftria Mohre and rolled down 500 metres into the Chenab. Amid unabated heavy rains, police, quick response team and people have launched a rescue operation, they said. A senior officer of the administration told GNS that army’s help has also been sought.
“Nothing can be said as regards the deaths as rescue operation has been started,” sources said, adding tha the vehicle is about 25-30 meters deep inside Chenab. “We are trying our best to trace the vehicle and it seems unlikely that there would be any survivors,” he said. |
