Illegal constructions in Rajouri, Poonch will be demolished soon: Director ULB

JAMMU, Mar 5: Taking strong exception of illegal constructions being carried out in Rajouri and Poonch districts, the Director Urban Local Bodies (ULB), Veerji Hangloo said that an aggressive demolition drive will be launched soon across Jammu region particularly in these two districts where numbers of complaints of violations have been received.
While interacting with Early Times in an exclusive interview, Director ULB, Veerji Hangloo informed and replied on various issues being taken up the department.
On being asked the question on illegal constructions, which are taking place near Salani bridge of Rajouri district, the Director ULB said that he had directed the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Rajouri to immediately take action by demolishing all illegal structures, which are mushrooming in and around Rajouri, Poonch cities.
"Some people take government for granted and carry out illegal construction by encroaching government land particularly in flood zones. We had removed many such illegal structures in Gujjar Mandi, Bela colony. We are getting information about more illegal structures through media also and a firm action will be taken in this regard," he said. He further said that similar action will be initiated in Poonch district also and instructed in this connection have been passed to the concerning officials to comply the orders. Sensing the gravity of issue illegal constructions and encroachment of state land in Rajouri and Poonch districts, the Director ULB informed that he would personally pay visit to Rajouri and Poonch in coming days to assess the ground position.
"Nobody will be spared whether he/she belongs to any political party or have bureaucratic influence. I appeal to the general public to corporate with the department to carry out action against such violators. Any delinquency on the part of concerned officials to execute the given direction will be dealt strictly," he said
