EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 6: The height of negligence on the part of administration of Municipal Committee Khor can be gauged from fact that the Safaikaramcharies deployed in this area are being provided with expiry soaps for their personal hygiene.
Sources told Early Times that the Safaikaramcharies are being issued expiry soaps by MC authority for washing their hands to kills germs after discharging their duties which indicates the non-seriousness of the authorities towards the health of their workers.
“Even the illegal constructions and encroachments have been going on unabated in MC Khour but the concerned Executive Officer seems to be least bothered to take note of it,” they said.
“Despite huge number of complaints of illegal constructions and encroachment, nothing has been done by EO to redress these issues. Although the EO MC Khour has also been given additional charge of Municipal Committee Jourian but due to lackluster attitude of the officer, the people both areas are also facing problems” they alleged.
They further said that even the cleanliness aspect is being ignored in these MCs, where huge heaps of garbage can be seen lying unattended, which creates health problem. “In the wake of Coronavirus pandemic, where entire country has been put on alert but the administration MC Khour has been overlooking the directives of higher authorities,” they alleged.
Sources informed that no proper checking of market is conducted by the MC Khour authority and moreover the domestic LPG cylinders are being used for commercial purpose openly in both MCs but concerned officials are in deep slumber.
“Not only MC Khour, even the MC Jourain, has been facing the similar problem due to negligence of the concerned officer,” they alleged. The local residents appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to take action against the erring official, who has not been discharging his duty properly.
Director ULB Veerji Hangloo, when contacted, said that he would verify the mater and assured that appropriate action will be taken against delinquents. Despite repeated calls EO Khour could not be contacted for his comments.
