JKNPP appeals government to keep teachers, lecturers off duties

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 18: “Despite the schools and colleges having been closed and academic activity having been suspended therein, it was absurd on the part of administration to call the teachers to such educational institutions. The schools were shut as a precautionary measure to check the proliferation of Corona pandemic. It was however strange rather ridiculous that the teachers were directed to report in the said closed schools. What objective was being fulfilled by the regular attendance of the teachers in the said schools when all health authorities were repeatedly issuing advisories for avoiding any kind of public gatherings. Does such decision of the government not expose the said teachers to risk of the fast spreading virus. And are they not being made susceptible to the deadly pandemic”?. This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP and former Minister today in a press conference held in Jammu today.
“The measures being taken to check the killer epidemic are far from sufficient. And this is evident from the ever increasing number of suspected cases as also the infected cases. The govt. has to take the preventive measures on war footing or otherwise it could be too late. The government should explore the possibility of taking services of government employees from their homes self without they having to venture out. This experiment was being undertaken in UP and other States. All unnecessary gatherings and even necessary gatherings wherever possible needed to be avoided. Remember it is the deadliest pandemic of all times and any laxity could lead to extremely dangerous consequences”, asserted Singh.
Shiv Dev Singh, Provincial General Secretary-JKNPP, Surinder Chouhan, District President Jammu Rural-JKNPP and Gurdeep Singh Raju, District Secretary Jammu Urban-JKNPP were also present in the press conference.
