Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Apr 7: The Safari Karamcharis at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri have been continuously working with full dedication without caring about the threat of deadly COVID-19 pandemic, which has great potential in putting their lives at risk.
Sources told Early Times that although everybody has been praising doctors and other medical staff for their untiring efforts in treating COVID-19 positive cases but these Safai Karamcharis, who are the unsung heroes in real sense during this pandemic, have been risking their lives while discharging their duties.
“They have been cleaning isolation wards, testing laboratories, where there is maximum threat of getting infected from COVID-19 yet they are giving their hundred percent just for the sake of humanity but unfortunately they were never rewarded for their job,” sources said, adding that there are no festivals, gazzeted holidays for them. They continuously perform their duties in order to save precious human lives.
“Entire medical staff including doctors, nurses can be seen wearing Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) due to threat of getting infected but Safai Karamcharies have been working tirelessly putting their lives at grave risk,” they said, adding that most of the Safai Karamcharis are engaged by the contractor on meager wages and only few are permanent in the hospital.
Not only in the hospital the Safai Karamcharis can be seen working even in residential areas cleaning streets and roads in such tough times.
