Risking their lives doctors of GMC&H Jammu continue to serve humanity

JAMMU, Apr 22: Notwithstanding widespread shortage of Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) for medicos and other health workers in non-COVID Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu and the Super Specialty Hospital Jammu, several departments uninterruptedly providing the best facilities to patients including surgeries, as due to lockdown nobody can go outside the state for treatment.
“The designated hospital for COVID-19 in Jammu is experiencing shortage of PPEs for medicos and other staff, and it can be imagined what we are getting here in the non-COVID hospital,” said a senior doctor.
“In the time of this kind of emergency, we are tirelessly working to serve our people here,” the doctor added.
He said that all major departments including Surgery, Nephrology, Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopaedic, Urology as well as others are leaving no stone unturned in providing best possible medical aid to the patients. “The Oncology department is conducting around 25-30 Chemotherapies on daily basis, similarly regular procedures are being done by the Cardiology department without any delay,” the doctor said, adding that though Corona virus has claimed 1.7 lakh lives worldwide, but it is also fact that millions of people die worldwide due to cancer, heart attack and other ailments every year.
