EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Apr 22: While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on human lives and economy, the vulnerable families in Rajouri and Poonch are facing more heat amid scarce means to fend for themselves during the lockdown period.
Narrating their ordeal to Early Times, many families claimed that since the outbreak of the deadly virus, subsequently coupled with lockdown, they feel it too difficult to arrange even the basic food.
“There are a lot of poor families like us who are in desperate need of help,” a local said, adding that there are also a huge chunk of individuals including physically handicapped, widows, orphans and the people affected by turmoil, who are hapless and helpless.
Urging the district administration to step in during these “testing times”, a person, wishing anonymity said, “Though the authorities are making efforts to help the migrant workers, we expect the same treatment for us from our administration.”
“We appeal the district administration to arrange essentials for all the needy people and households as we don’t have any other source to look up to,” he said.
Meanwhile, a few other people have also urged the Social Welfare Department to release the pending monthly honorarium into their bank accounts.
