COVID-19 peak yet to come
4/22/2020 11:26:09 PM
Recent modelling exercise carried out by Times network along with a global consulting firm has predicted that COVID-19 epidemic could peak in India in mid-May and the cases could rise to around 75000 around May 22.
The report predicting an alarming rise in the number of positive cases cannot be just brushed aside as an hypothesis based on assumptions.
The report has even suggested the solutions about how the government and health infrastructure can respond to the crisis.
India had gone into a lockdown mode just within days after a few COVID-19 positive cases were reported in some states and union territories. Soon after the first phase of 21-day lockdown ended, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, extended it for next 21-days.
The PM’s decision has proved to be correct as the number of cases despite India being shut have been increasing. The COVID-19 growth has declined during the past few days and number of people getting cured has also increased but situation continues to be grim.
In the second phase of lockdown some restrictions have been eased but overall, the lockdown is on. The lockdown 2.0 would end on May 3 but the predictions about the COVID-19 might peak in middle of the May can make the government reconsider its decision about whether to lift the lockdown or not.
All the activities coming to a halt across the country have hit the economy very hard. Once the COVID-19 threat is over putting economy back on track would be an uphill task for the people at the helm. This deadly virus has spared none. The road is not going to be that easy. All the countries hit by the COVID-19 will have to rebuild the economies. But at this point of time everyone’s concern is survival. In absence of any specific vaccine or medicine this virus has turned into a monster and is threatening to wipe out the entire planet.
Voices across the world to punish the country which created this virus are becoming shriller and everyone are pointing their fingers towards China from where the Coronavirus emanated.
The Chinese have succeeded in controlling the pandemic and are living their lives as usual. But the countries where this virus reached from China are grappling to find a solution and save their people from dying.
It appears that China could come in the line of fire soon after this pandemic ends as the international community would demand answers to the questions, which China is ignoring at present.
