Acute shortage of drinking water in Pochhal, authorities unconcerned: Asha Bhandari

Kishtwar, Apr 27: A social activist of District Kishtwar Asha Bhandari has expressed great concern over an acute shortage of drinking water in villages Pochhal of Tehsil Kishtwar as a result of which the villagers are suffering badly on account of huge shortage of drinking water.
Asha Bhandari in her statement said that the villagers of Pochhal have to fetch drinking water after covering a long distance on foot which is a matter of great concern. She said that most affected are the residents who are residing in upper Pochhal near Shiv Mandir where lots of influential people are being supplied drinking water through illegal means which needs to be enquired so that the deserving villagers could get their share of drinking water.
She further added and said that the PHE department of District Kishtwar is aware of the fact that there is an acute shortage of drinking water in the area for which various social and political organisations have been approaching time and again to the PHE authorities of Kishtwar but no heed was paid to their repeated request.
She has urged the Chief Engineer PHE Jammu to direct the Executive engineer hydraulic division Kishtwar to ensure immediate supply of drinking water in the area so that the villagers may not suffer any longer for want of drinking water.
