EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Apr 27: As some anti-social and anti-national elements are spitting venom at this crucial time when nation is fighting deadly coronavirus, J&K government is likely to take tough action against those Face-bookers who have been projecting themselves as ‘journalists’. These self-styled journalists, who are operating only Facebook pages, have become nuisance for the authorities because they are spreading news without verification and authentication.
Credible sources said that higher-ups in the government have already asked different agencies dealing with cyber related departments to keep a strict vigil on these Facebook media groups. While as some of these self-styled ‘journalists’ are operating Facebook accounts, many others have accounts on WhatsApp and Twitter through which they are spreading fake news and instigating people.
As reported by a Kashmir based news agency, administration is tightening the noose around the social media users who are masquerading as journalists without any media accreditation and uploading fake information.
Credible sources said list of these self-styled journalists- running their Facebook pages, WhatsApp groups and twitter accounts and uploading news content without any registration from concerned authorities will be taken to task.
