ICDS under scanner for re-advertising posts amid lockdown
Unemployed seek LG Murmu’s intervention

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Apr 27: Even as the country is witnessing a nationwide lockdown as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) has come under scanner for issuing recruitment notification in such terrible times when people are asked to stay indoors.
The ICDS has come under scanner for re-advertising posts of Women Welfare officer and the District Coordinator, which come with a “considerable salary package.”
Sources said the excuse which the ICDS has given to seek applications is a two year old notification vide advertisement No. DPO/ICDS /Gbl/2018/MSK/2033 Dated 28.11.2018.
“Whereas, in the said Advertisement it was inadvertently mentioned only ‘female candidates’, can apply instead of the word ‘preferably Women candidate’ shall be eligible for selection. Whereas, in view of the above it has been felt expedient to Re-Advertise the posts,” reads the notification.
“Therefore; in view of the above mentioned consideration applications are invited from eligible Candidates of District Ganderbal preferably from Women applicant for the below mention contractual posts under the Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme (MSKS),” the notification reads.
Interestingly the job offers a considerable salary of Rs 35,000 per month and Rs 20,000 for the other post of district coordinator.
Sources said some officials in the ICDS look ahead to benefit their favorites from “two political particular parties for the post.”
“What is the fun of re-advertising the posts when the public movement is banned? Can any official in the concerned department explain the genuine reasons,” said a source in the ICDS.
The sources said there was a need not only to cancel the re-advertisement but to probe all such previous appointments as made by the ICDS during the previous regime led by Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
“There are already numerous complaints against recruitment as made by the concerned especially a then minister who was calling the shots,” said an official on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted ICDS officials refuted the allegations.
Meanwhile the unemployed youth of the Ganderbal district have appealed Lieutenant Governor to personally look into the matter.
