Early Times Report

JAMMU Apr 27: Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra today conducted a surprise inspection of industrial units at Industrial Growth Centre Samba and Industrial Estate Kathua to ascertain whether the units are following the guidelines prescribed under the Standard Operating Procedure issued by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the SOP, the Department of Industries & Commerce has been directed to conduct periodic inspection of units which have been granted permission to operate during the lockdown period to ensure that the units are complying with the social distancing norms, maintaining proper hygiene in the unit premise and wearing of face masks by the employees.
General Manager DIC Samba and General Manager DIC Kathua accompanied the Director during inspection. The units inspected by the Director Included Insecticides India Limited and Godrej Agro vets at IGC Samba and Godrej Consumer Products, SUS Agro India Limited and Aneja Foods at Industrial Estate Kathua.
Director also reiterated the provisions of SOP including thermal screening, use of sanitizers by the workers, social distancing and wearing of face mask to effectively tackle the threat of Corona Virus. She expressed satisfaction that in the inspected units the norms were being followed as per the SOP. The pantry/canteens along with the dormitories of the workers were also found neat and clean. The unit holders were advised to highlight guidelines and good hygienic practices in the shape of posters within the unit premises so that the workers are reminded of the same more frequently and in case they face hardship in getting the posters printed, the Federation of Industries, Jammu and other associations have assured help to such units by getting the material printed.
Some unit holders engaged in Bakery products stated that they are operating only the lines for Rusk manufacturing as the major market for biscuits is in Kashmir and the orders are not forthcoming from there. Director Industries assured to take up the issue with the concerned quarters for redressal.
Director passed direction to General Managers regarding conduct of periodic inspection of units operating in their jurisdiction to ensure that the SOPs are followed by all the units in operation.
