Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 16: Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module by arresting five militant associates and unearthing a hideout in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam Amod Nagpure said that following specific information, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by police, 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 153 battalion of CRPF in village Arizal in Budgam. “During the operation, a top LeT associate, identified as Zahoor Wani, was arrested,” he said.
He said on his disclosure, a hideout was also discovered, which was used by militants to take shelter. “From the hideout, various incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were also recovered,” he said.
During the further investigation, he said four other LeT associates identified as Younis Mir, Aslam Sheikh, Parwaiz Sheikh and Rehman Lone, all residents of Khansaib, were also arrested. “The accused were involved in providing logistic support and shelter to LeT militants,” he said.
Mr Nagpure said that this group was active in the area for last few months.
“In this regard, case under relevant provisions of law has been registered with Police Station Khansaib and investigation taken up,” he added.
