Jammu, May 16: Rural Development & Panchyati Raj (RD&PR) Department has initiated an inquiry against the junior engineer (JE) booked by the then State Vigilance Organization (SVO) in 2010.
Sources in the civil secretariat told Early Times that a fresh inquiry has been ordered by the administrative department against the JE. The SVO (now, Anti Corruption Bureau) had recommended regular departmental action into the case.
“Recently, Joint Director (Admin) was appointed as inquiry officer to look into the case against Zaffar Iqbal , the then JE, RDD Manjakote. He was booked by the SVO in case of FIR no. 25/2010 at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ)”, sources said.
“Charges received from the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), were served upon the delinquent official along with statement of imputation and gist of evidence in the regular departmental action against him”, sources said, adding that the block development officer (BDO) Manjakote has been appointed as presenting officer. “The BDO Manjakote will present the case on behalf of the department before the inquiry officer (IO).
The IO shall conclude the enquiry and submit his report along with specific recommendation within 20 days”, sources said, adding however, the process could not start well in time due to coronavirus pandemic. “The inquiry was ordered on March 19, 2020 and the report was be submitted on 9th of April”, they added.
Mohammad Anwar Bandey, Joint Director (Adm), Directorate of Rural Development Jammu and the inquiry officer, when contacted said that the presenting officer, appointed by the department could not reach here (directorate) to present the case due lockdown. “He has compiled the sought record and I hope, he will submit it as and when the lockdown is over”, he added.
