NMC appeals union Govt to reconsider decision of freezing DA

JAMMU, May 26: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union of Minister of State Finance Anurag Thakur to reconsider the decision of freezing DA payable to both central, state and UT governments employees and pensioners due from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.
President of the NMC, Subhash Shastri in a statement issued here today said that Dearness relief is not a wage increase but it’s just compensation against the erosion of real wages and cost of living.
Shastri pointed out that entire country has stood as one to fight against Covid-19 pandemic under PM leadership adding that both central, state and UT government employees of essential services etc are fore front of the battle against Covid-19 risking their safety and life. Recognizing the contribution of these brave corona warriors, Shastri also requested to PM, FM and MoS Finance to withdraw the order which debars pensioners, employees the release of 4% DA announced recently by the central govt as this is only source with them to cater the dearness need as special exemption for pensioners category only. Rajan Babu Khajuria, BS Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Romesh Sharma, Gara Ram, Darshan Bawa, suraj Parkash and others also demanded implementation of all central labour laws setting up of Labor Welfare Board, release of all pending wages of DRWS besides their regularization under SRO 64 and increasing the minimum salary of daily rated workers to Rs 18000 per month.
