Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 26: Even as some of the most dastardly attacks on security forces took place in Kashmir in the recent past in which the brave-heart sacrificed their lives, the valley based politicians didn’t even utter a word to pay tributes to the departed souls.
In the recent past from the multiple terror strikes in Handwara that left eight security force personnel including an Army Colonel and a Major dead, to the subsequent attacks in Ganderbal and Pulwama, the Kashmir politicians have been silent even on their social media accounts than to talk of issuing any formal press statements.
For former Chief Minister and National Conference President Omar Abdullah, he finds out time to even share satirical videos on Aarogya Setu app on his Twitter handle, but he has no time to pay tributes to the martyrs.
Same holds true for the Peoples Democratic Party led by Mehbooba Mufti. Whereas her Twitter account continues to be active and posts about a number of issues, not a word has come on the martyrdom the brave soldiers. Both the parties recently issued statements on the new domicile laws but didn’t utter a word for the security forces who, as per the observers, have been guarding these politicians the most.
In the recent incident, two BSF soldiers were killed by terrorists in Ganderbal whereas on the very next day a policeman was killed in Pulwama. Prior to that a policeman was killed in Kulgam area of south Kashmir. For that matter, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement led by Dr Shah Faesal recently issued a statement to criticize the domicile certificate but the statement had no mention of recent terror strikes in Kashmir.
The Peoples Conference led by Sajjad Lone whose father was killed by terrorists has also been silent on the attacks though is party also contested the domicile certificate through his party handout.
Similarly the other so called champions of human rights in Kashmir including the civil society faces and business forums have also been silent on the killings.
A senior official said it was unfortunate that even though security forces have been protecting these protected politicians the most, they have been silent on the tragedies.
Despite repeated attempts the politicians in question couldn’t be contacted for comments.
