Early Times Report

Jammu, Jun 7 Education is the key to success, which helps in developing the overall personality and achieving goals in life. To inculcate these factors among children, especially the lesser fortunate ones, a Jammu origin boy, currently residing in Dubai, has extended a helping hand by spreading quality education through YouTube channel, ‘Helping Little Gems.’
Making optimum use of technology, teenager Nahush Nahush Shrivatsa, (16), a 12th standard student originally from Jammu and brought up in Dubai, has developed a YouTube channel, to bring education to every household in an innovative and easy way.
“Despite the unforeseen circumstances owing to COVID-19, some of the students have been able to continue with our regular studies through online schooling – thanks to our school, teachers and technology. However, it is not the same for many lesser-privileged children, Nahush told UNI over telephone.
Born to Engineer Kannaw Shrivatsa and Educationist Tuleka Shrivatsa, the teenager said, “These children are the ones, whose parents have helped us in countless ways – in maintaining our homes and offices, building our city’s infrastructure, driving the public transport we use so often, or growing the food we eat”. But sadly, he felt that their studies are at a standstill.
The student of Dubai-based ‘The Millennium School’, started this great initiative of free online learning for underprivileged students, along with his pals.
HelpingLittleGems is an initiative by the children for the children, where these students create and upload content based on a range of topics learnt at school, for the underprivileged children, he expressed.
The teenager said that these topics have been divided into short videos, which can be viewed anytime by these children, when they are free.
‘’These students are recording their videos and uploading them on YouTube, covering basic topics on subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and Hindi,” he said, adding that they target children in Grade 5 and below.
