Early Times Report

Jammu, June 7: Sanjay Kumar, who along with his 74 year old mother had tested positive—now both cured—has been waiting for his other family members, who had tested negative, to be released from the administrative quarantine in Kishtwar district.
Sanjay Kumar son of Narayan Dass of Sounder Dachhan in Kishtwar District told the Early Times that he along with his two kids, his wife mother, cousin and aunt left from New Delhi Railway station on 14-5-2020 and reached at Jammu Tawi Railway station on 15 May 2020.
“After disembarking from the train our swab samples were taken and we were asked to board a bus in which we were around 17 passenger-we all reached Kishtwar on the same evening and were sent to J N Shashtri Memorial School for administrative quarantine,” Sanjay Kumar said.
He said that on May 17 they were shifted to Shalimar quarantine centre and on the same day one test report came and one of them in the group was found to be COVID-19 positive.
He said that thereafter they were shifted to another quarantine centre at District Hospital Kishtwar.
“On 20th May our report came and three persons of my family, including me, were also found positive. Other two were my 74-year old mother, who is an asthamatic patient , and my aunt. I and my mother were shifted to COVID hospital in Jammu. My aunt, my kids, my wife and cousin were isolated and kept in District Hospital Kishtwar,” said Kumar.
He said that other test sample of his two kids and other group members were taken on May 23 and reports came as negative.
“Once the report was negative the people in our group who were locals of Kishtwar were discharged for home quarantine but my kids and my family members were kept under administrative quarantine for next one week” he said.
He said that on 30th of May test samples were taken again and till date reports have not come as a result of which his family members who were quarantined 25 days ago are feeling traumatized. “In between me and my mother who were in Jammu COVID-19 hospital were tested again and this time both reports were negative and both of us were discharged and sent back from Jammu towards my native village in an ambulance which was provided by hospital in Jammu- but we were dropped at Blue Sapphire hotel in Kishtwar and kept in administrative quarantine again,” he said added that he had to pay from his own pocket for the daily expenses, whereas his kids and other family members are still in administrative quarantine. “I have spoken to all the people here in administration-but nobody is paying any heed towards me and my family. Since last 25 days my kids are well- but God forbid if they come in contact with any positive member in quarantine centre then who will be responsible” Sanjay questioned.
When contacted senior officials said that Sanjay and his mother are living in a private hotel out of their own choice. “Both are free to go to home- however they have been asked to remain under home quarantine,” officials said.
Kumar said that no vehicle is available for them to drop them at Dachhan which is around 60 kms from Kishtwar. “I cannot leave my children and other family members at Kishtwar hospital quarantine center. Let them release my family first. They have no mercy they have been under quarantine for the past 25-days,” he added.
Senior officials blamed the testing laboratory for the goof up. “They have delayed the test reports,” officials added.
