Early Times Report

Jammu, June 7: A woman was humiliated and beaten in Woman Police Station Kathua by the SHO, later woman was hospitalised when she fell unconscious during alleged custodial torture with any reason.
According to sources, two sons of the victim lady were arrested by SHO Woman Cell Kathua on the basis of drug related complaints. “This afternoon the mother of detained boys reached Police woman Cell Kathua to give them some food. The SHO of Woman Cell Sanjeevani put the woman behind bars and allegedly beat her”, sources informed Early Times.
They further said that the woman was taken to hospital when she fell unconscious in the lock-up. “The daughter of the lady searching for her mother went to the Police station and later rushed to hospital after knowing about the incident”, sources said, adding that fearing adverse reaction the SHO directed to take her mother home.
“Since the lady is not well, as per the paramedic staff in the hospital on duty, when the lady was taken to hospital, her daughter showed reluctance to take her mother home fearing if something went wrong at home”, they said.
It is pertinent to mention here that following some Corona positive case from Kathua Police station, the Police station was closed, works of PS Kathua assigned to Woman Cell Kathua.
SHO, Woman Cell Kathua, Sanjeevani Sharma when contacted said, “We picked-up boys (brothers), drug addicted on bases of complaints yesterday evening, this afternoon mother and sister of the boys came here to give them food.
I started counselling of the lady, motivating her to shift her sons at rehabilitation centres, but the lady and her daughter created a nuisance. Meanwhile the lady fell unconscious, she was taken to hospital on the basis of a medical report that the lady has no problem. We registered a case against her for creating a nuisance in the Police Station.”
