Felicitating an official twice in one month by Youth Congress raises eyebrows
6/13/2020 11:39:14 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 13: The felicitation of an official of Revenue department (Corona Warrior) by the Youth Congress for two times that too in a span of one month has raised eyebrows among political circles, who questioned the intensions behind such ceremonies.
According to the photographs circulated by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, the officials of Revenue department from Jammu North were felicitated twice in the last one month.
On 29th of April, the Youth Congress had uploaded a photograph, in which they honoured the Corona Warriors, who were at the frontline in fight against the pandemic. The officials honoured were from Revenue department from Jammu North division and same photographs were uploaded on the social networking sites by the Youth Congress office bearers. Surprisingly after around only one later that is on 2nd of June the Youth Congress office bearers once again reached the Revenue officials of Jammu North Division and again felicitated the officials, terming them Corona Warriors. Once again the photographs were uploaded along with the officials and it was mentioned that the felicitation function was organized as per the directions from higher ups of the Party.
The felicitation of the Revenue officials from a particular division of Jammu has raised eyebrows. “Officials of various departments including Police, Doctors, Safai-Karamcharis, and Drivers supplying essential commodities beside others have been fighting at frontlines since the Covid-19 outbreak. If the intention of someone is to actually felicitate the COVID-19 warriors, then it will take several months to reach every warrior”, a politician said, adding that but selectively felicitating particular officials from a particular department and from a particular area, speaks something hidden behind such functions.
“It could be the case that Youth Congress workers don’t want to visit other areas of Jammu city and find some official who is easily available to them and agree for a photo-session so that the photographs could be circulated over the social media as well as shown to the higher ups about the alleged ground work being done by the workers”, another politician said, adding that instead of engaging in cosmetic exercises to gain cheap publicity the Congress workers need to come out of their cosy chambers and engage in actual field work, for the rejuvenation of the party.
